Summary

Blended learning means different thing to different people, but at its core seems to come down to some kind of joint use of different types of technology in a learning situation. It can be used to slowly move students to online learning incrementally. Several ways this is being done are as follows:

  • online assessments
  • long-term discussion for a community of practice after a learning event
  • accessibility of resource materials
  • pre-work
  • online office hours
  • mentoring/coaching
  • job aids/integration of new skills for successful implementation
  • access to experts
  • email distribution lists for contact before, during and after learning sessions
