Week 1 – Introduce yourself

Each of you has been emailed a username and password for the class website. If you have not received this, please email me directly.

This Week’s Assignment: First Journal Entry

This week, I would like you to login with these credentials, and create a new post introducing yourself to your classmates. Be sure to categorize your post in the appropriate group, based on the group you were assigned to in today’s class. If you were absent from class today, check the Group Members page in the Course Info section to find the group you have been assigned to.

Your introductory post should tell your classmates a little bit about you. You can begin by telling us why you’re taking this course and what you hope to learn in this class, but feel free to add anything else you would like your classmates to know about you. In addition, answer the questions below in your introductory post.

Discussion Questions

1. Did you ever grow plants, other food or non-food varieties? If you have grown food varieties what types did you grow and how did you grow them? Did you use planters, regular soil gardens or hydroponics..etc..?
2. If you have never grown plants do some research on a plant variety you are interested in and develop a post. In addition comment on other group or course members posts.

Engage with Your Classmates

Throughout this course, you will also be encouraged to interact with your classmates through this website, and take the time to read and respond to your group members’ postings, as well as those of other classmates. As you read what your classmates have posted in their introductions, I would like you to find something you have in common with two other classmates, and post a comment in response to each of these two postings.

Your introduction post is due on Thursday, July 11th, at 8:00 pm. Your response to 2 classmates’ postings must be complete before Sunday, July 14th, at midnight. Refer to the Weekly Schedule for a list of activities, assignments and tasks you are required to complete each week.
